Good News For Wine Lovers

Do you love wine? More importantly, do you love wine and have the blessing of your doctor, spouse and/or spiritual advisors to explore the pleasures of the grape? Then you are truly among the fortunate people of this Earth. And by now you’ve probably discovered that there’s nothing more revealing of the essence of a place than a beautifully made wine created from locally grown grapes. Good news- that is exactly what’s going on in the wineries of Nevada County! Think of us as “California’s Other Wine Country.” Go wild and think of us a “Napa with a Better Altitude” or “Sonoma with More Character and Less Traffic” or “Bordeaux Without All the Annoying French People.” The point is, when you think of great wine we want you to think of us. We’re confident that we have the right crush of grapes without the crush of people you may have experienced in other, more famous, wine regions. We think you’ll like the pace you’ll find in our tasting rooms, where you can slow down and enjoy an atmosphere that encourages knowledgeable appreciation of wine without any snobbery or “cattle call” vibe. We steadfastly refuse to participate in “The War on Terroir,” although in our immodest moments we will mention that our combination of soil, climate, elevation and farming style is pretty great for growing fabulous wine grapes.

So for anyone who enjoys wine there are still plenty of discoveries to be made in our part of California’s Gold Country. On the back roads you'll find small, family-owned wineries that produce premium hand-crafted, award-winning wines. You’ll want to set aside some time to savor Nevada County’s vintages at wineries set amid rolling hills or in unique tasting rooms in historic downtown Grass Valley, Nevada City and Truckee. It really is fun to pair favorite foods with delicious wines chosen from an array of varietals and then pick a beautiful place to picnic. Now that’s an afternoon well spent. It's also easy to arrange your next visit around any of the special events hosted by our wineries throughout the year. Visit their websites for updates and calendar.
